Montague County, Texas

Pest control inForestburg, Texas.

Forestburg is farming country in the southeast corner of the county, and it's close enough to Bowie that we're through regularly. Nearly everything out here is acreage, which puts the work in barns and outbuildings rather than kitchens.

What we see out here

  • Sandy ground out this way drains fast, which changes how a termite barrier has to be applied to hold
  • Fire ants build quickly in loose soil and come back after every rain
  • Produce sheds, equipment barns and stored feed hold the rodent population that ends up in the house each autumn

Sandy ground

The soil out this way is looser and drains faster than the heavier clay closer to town. That matters for termite work — a liquid barrier behaves differently in sand, and applying it the same way you would on clay is how you end up with gaps. It also means fire ants establish fast and rebuild after every rain, so broadcast treatment on a schedule beats chasing mounds.

Farm buildings

Sheds, equipment barns and anywhere feed or produce gets stored are where the rodent population actually lives. The house is just where they end up once it turns cold. Treating the buildings and the house together in one visit is the only version of this that holds through a winter.

Equipment

Anything parked long enough to be forgotten is a packrat’s first choice. They haul in bedding and chew wiring while they’re at it. If you’ve got machinery sitting, say so when you call.
